Every state page starts from statutes and state regulators and, where noted, secondary legal sources. We record the citation, the source and the date we checked it, and recheck on a schedule. Figures about places come from public sources such as the Census Bureau and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, with the year shown next to each number.
Local resources
State law rows come from statutes, state regulators and, where noted, secondary legal sources, with citation, source URL and verification date. Resource rows come from the agency or nonprofit's own site and publish after an automated check that each link loads and belongs to its category.
How we review
Before a page that states a rate, a term, a loan amount or a legal rule goes live, the editorial team checks it against the cited statutes and regulator sources. When the law or a source changes, the page goes back through review. The information is general and is not legal or financial advice.
