The rules in full
Title loans
- Rate cap
- "Title loan" is defined in NRS 604A.105 as, in substance, a loan secured by a vehicle title made above 35% APR; no general numeric APR cap otherwise applies (rate is set by contract, similar to payday/high-interest loans under the same chapter). During any extension period, the APR charged cannot exceed the APR charged during the original term, and no additional origination, set-up, collection, transaction, negotiation, handling, processing, late, or default fees may be charged in connection with an extension.
- Fees
- No extension-period fees beyond interest at the original-term rate; lender generally cannot extend credit beyond the vehicle's fair market value and must confirm borrower ability to repay.
- License
- Title Loan license under NRS Chapter 604A, issued by the Nevada Financial Institutions Division (FID).
