Loan options in Wyoming
Every loan type we cover is listed, including the ones Wyoming law does not allow, so you can see why and what else can work.
- Personal loansAllowedA lump sum you repay in fixed monthly payments. See what your state allows and what a loan can cost.

Rate, fee and license rules in Wyoming
Installment and personal loans
- Rate cap
- Wyoming Uniform Consumer Credit Code (UCCC). Non-supervised consumer loans (W.S. sec. 40-14-310, referenced): loan finance charge, actuarial method, may not exceed 10 percent per year on unpaid principal. Any loan carrying a rate above 10 percent per year is a 'supervised loan' requiring a Consumer Lender license, and its rate is instead governed by W.S. sec. 40-14-348: for initial principal up to 50,000 dollars, the greater of (a) a tiered rate of 36 percent per year on the unpaid balance up to 1,000 dollars and 21 percent per year on the unpaid balance over 1,000 dollars, or (b) an alternative minimum-charge formula in the statute.
- Fees
- Tiered rate structure described above.
- License
- Consumer Lender license under W.S. sec. 40-14-302/40-14-304, issued by the Wyoming Division of Banking (Department of Audit).
Title loans
- Rate cap
- Wyoming has no separate motor-vehicle-title-loan statute or license category; a vehicle-title-secured consumer loan would be made under the general Consumer Lender / UCCC framework (see installment product) and would be classified as a supervised loan subject to the sec. 40-14-348 tiered rate cap (36 percent per year up to 1,000 dollars principal, 21 percent per year above that, or the alternative formula) if the rate exceeds 10 percent per year.
- Fees
- Same as installment/supervised-loan structure under sec. 40-14-348; no title-loan-specific fee schedule exists.
- License
- Consumer Lender license under W.S. sec. 40-14-302/40-14-304 (the Wyoming Division of Banking's license-type list for consumer lending does not separately name 'title lender'); state law allows title loans, regulated as a form of secured consumer/supervised loan.
Payday loans
- Rate cap
- Post-dated check / payday loans, W.S. sec. 40-14-363: no post-dated check finance charge may exceed the greater of 30 dollars or 20 percent per month on the principal balance (equivalent to roughly 240 percent per year at the 20 percent/month rate, though the statute expresses the cap per month, not as an annualized figure).
- Fees
- Greater of 30 dollars or 20 percent per month on principal balance; no maximum loan amount specified in the sections reviewed.
- License
- Post-Dated Check Casher license under W.S. sec. 40-14-362/40-14-363, issued by the Wyoming Division of Banking.
